The British Psychological Society (1999) gave a definition of dyslexia; ‘dyslexia is evident when accurate and fluent word reading and / or spelling develops very incompletely or with great difficulty.’ After completing several assessments with Angela, the profile from her results suggest a profile that is normally associated with the strengths and weakness characteristic of dyslexia. During the testing, she demonstrated great enthusiasm for the tasks, and perseverance while she was doing some of the more challenging ones. Recommendations Angela should be able to make good progress with additional help in her weaker areas, and I recommend that her response to any intervention should be monitored closely and reassessed after three months. She needs a multisensory teaching programme designed around her needs and ability, with steps built in boosting her confidence and self- esteem. Analysing a TV Advertisement The TV advert that I am going to analyse is advertising Comfort, the clothes washing liquid. This advert is very, very unusual. It is about a family made out of fabric, a little bit like rag dolls. I am going to analyse this advert shot by shot so it is easy to understand. The first shot is set in the bathroom of the Clothes family. Little Lisa cloth is extremely upset that her boyfriend is leaving town for a little while. At the start of the advert she is standing in the bathroom looking extremely upset. Her mother then comes in. I am not sure whether this connotation was supposed to be implemented but I think that this suggests the feeling of being protective in a mothe rly sort of way. As Brian Ferneyhough quotes, â€Å"If nothing is at risk, nothing is established. † Hence, if J. K. Rowling had given up on herself, the book ‘Harry Potter’ would never have existed. But she had done the opposite instead: she risked her daughter, risked her studies, and even risked her life. This resulted in her being able to be successful. Her books have gained immense popularity, critical acclaim and commercial success worldwide, and were even made into movies. In conclusion, although taking risks means that we have to go against certain odds, but if the outcome is successful, there would be great improvements in our current life. The act of being able to come upon a new idea is indeed rewarding, and definitely worth the risk. Vincent van Gogh once said, â€Å"What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything? † If there were no one who would dare to take those risks, there would not be any changes in life from when it first started till now. We should all muster up the fearful courage and take the risk, for we never know what the outcome is. Therefore, it does pay to take risks.
